“Becoming a woman of confidence is truly a sight to behold. She is humble yet ready to lead and you will have contentment and peace knowing that the horse you love so dearly will be taken care of so completely.”
Experience is worth its weight in gold
You can’t put a price tag on experience and it doesn’t happen overnight. I believe you need a couple of years of running your horse business to experience your career to the fullest. The best classroom you will have is right in your barn and your learning curve will amaze you during those early years.
Don’t compare yourself to the other equine professionals out there. You can admire them and what they have accomplished but you need to remember that they started out as beginners just like you. They have lost their tempers and made poor decisions at times. They have laughed and cried and even thought about changing careers a time or two when they were having a really bad day. It happens to everyone and the ones that seem the most successful could probably give you some pretty good stories of their early years while trying to start their businesses. They might be the most confident professional horsewomen on the outside but when they are alone in their home with their family I am sure there have been evenings when they have contemplated many of the same thoughts that are going through your mind.
Confidence will come if you don’t give up
Confidence is something that will come if you don’t give up. As your confidence grows so will how you handle the many different situations you will encounter. You are going to learn to educate without criticizing and correct with gentleness. You will learn to encourage with honesty and comfort with strength. You will learn to forgive and let yourself be forgiven which is huge! You will learn to keep going when there is nothing left and the day was a disaster. When you do have a great day, enjoy it to the fullest! They might seem sparse at first but eventually the good days will outnumber the bad days and you will find your job becoming easier without realizing.
Then one day you will wake up and start to believe that you are good at what you do and you will feel like you are becoming a professional horsewoman. When that day happens you will never forget it. It is truly an unforgettable feeling that will leave you beaming on the inside.
Confidence comes from experience and you are going to get more than your share of it. Be patient and don’t be too hard on yourself. We all start out as beginners in our journey to make our dreams come true. What an awesome journey it is!
