As I talk to these people by phone and read many posts on Facebook I start to see how discouraged so many are with the career they chose in the equine industry. There are some that want so bad to start their own training business or board horses for a living. There are those that want to breed horses and many that would love to work and ride in the racing industry. The horse industry is vast and trying to get into it and make an honest living has turned out to be much more difficult than many have ever expected. Add wintertime into the picture and it always seems to be the straw that breaks the camels back. Between flooding and mud and snow and ice it is enough to bring you to tears at times. I understand that because I was there years ago and I still have those days once in a while. Making a living at boarding horses is not the easiest living to do and I am going to be honest and tell you I still have days once in a while when I question why I am doing this. That is when I can feel discouragement knocking at my door loud and hard.
There is hope!
I am writing today's post to tell you that you are not alone and you will get through the tough days. We all just need some encouragement and help at times. That is when I reach to God for the strength to keep going and to find my reason for doing what I am doing. When I am second guessing what I do for a living I pray and ask for guidance and ask God to take away this discouragement that has a hold on me and in it's place give me a focus and a way of helping others. His word is what gives me strength on a daily basis and when I go to Him first then everything else falls in place.
I think we could all use a little encouragement and I hope that you will take sometime and ask God to help you find it. He is waiting there to pick you up when you can't take anymore and carry you through it. My prayer for you is that you will find some positive people that will mentor you and encourage you along your journey in this industry. Surrounding yourself with people that have done it before and understand what you are going through is a healthy way to keep on track with how you are doing in your business.
Today I want to give you encouragement that the days will get easier and you never alone. The hard days will pass and new days will come that will be amazing. You have chosen a life working with horses and their owners and what a great life it is. Take is one day at a time. When you need a reminder of why you got into this business to begin with, take a walk in your barn and listen to the peaceful sound of the horses munching on hay when all your clients have left for the day. There you will find it.
You are an amazing equine professional! Don't ever forget that. Remember that all you need to do is seek Him and he will be there.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Phillipians 4:13 NIV
I wish you many blessings in your horse business,
